the one i need more is...

MUSIC.

Current enjoyments.

1. La Roux - La Roux
Totally, absolutely, stupendously love this album. Fun songs and fun beats. Some of her lyrics are so clever! A dash of 80's. Some synthesizing electroness. And a lot of pop. Oh, and a lot of get-up-and-danceness. How can I not enjoy?

2. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Its Blitz!
Oh, Hysteric. Great song. Oh, Karen O. Killer style and killer voice. My sister saw them live in London and said they were "fantastic". Along with (and I quote) "all the boys here are in love with Karen O. They want her to be mother of their babies". Interesting. Hysterical and fanatical fantasticness.

3. Jay Z - The Blueprint 3
Personally, was initially meh about it, but kicking back strong. Pretty strong. I like his lyrics. Some of them. A lot of them. Okay, maybe I like his wit. Or maybe its a mix of both. Whatever. One big huge high five for lyrical wit! I'm a sucker for that stuff.

4. Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix
When I listen to them, I think 'such good music to travel to'. Reminds me of my past summer. Sweet. I love their style. A coooool style. A cooool voice. Love Like a Sunset - it is like one whole really intense movie all in a single song. Without words. Its true.

Aaaand cut. Those are my current enjoyments.

ch-ch-ch-check it out

Do you know Sam Javanrouh? If not, go here. Immediately.
Daily Dose of Imagery was one of the very first blogs I ever, ever started following...
And he is brilliant. Just saying.  I always want to go take photos after visiting the site. Yes, even with my dying digi camera.
Best part? A lot of the photos are taken in and of Toronto. Toronto love. Yes!
Posts one photo for each day. Hence, your daily dose. Awesome.

life in the trenches

I am loving Art of the Trench, a Burberry project that The Sartorialist took part in.
From little people to old man. From hippity hipster to elegant posh. From gangster to business man. And everything in between!

'The Burberry Trench'. Jeez. Exudes bad ass. BAD ASS. Bad ass in the bad ass way. Meaning bad ass in a good way.

How classic. Its as classic as it gets, really.

pummyummyumpkin

Man, I am sick. Like cough-cough-achooooo-frown-and-more-frowning kind of sick. Like the you-want-a-whole-body-massage and someone-to-take-care-of-you-because-you're-so-lazy-to-take-care-of-yourself kind of sick.
Being home sick gets so boring after a few days. I'm now caught up on all my TV shows, have redid my nails, semi-cleaned my room. Which means.... Time to bake.

As I mentioned before, pumpkins are one of my very favouritest things in the whole wide world. They are a sure bet into my heart : ) I said I was going to bake a lot more pumpkin-y things this season. I only made my one pumpkin pie. Boo. Until today, that is! Today, I made these. Really easy and so tasty. And holy batman, they smell so good! I do suggest, if you are a pumpkin lover, like me. (But, do read the comments and adhere to the suggestions.)

I hate that this year's Autumn was super, super short. It still may look like Autumn, but it definitely does not feel like Autumn. I mean.... we got snow the other day? Seriously. I blame my cold on the extreme weather changes of Toronto.

Its okay. Its alright. Winter is also a time I look forward to. I love that Toronto has this crazy season range, I cannot lie. And who says we can't have a little pumpkin in the Winter?

harder, better, faster, stronger

10K.

Initial thought: How far is that anyway? What? Whoa. Do we really want to do that?

Sounded scary in the beginning. Sounded scary while training. And I can't lie, still sounds a lil' bit scary.
BUT not as scary as it did in the beginning.

A couple of my friends and I took part in a 10K marathon. My first ever. It was kind of a (huge ass) big deal for me, but we did it!
And it was an amazing experience. An amazing feeling. An huge accomplishment!

RUNNING.

Initial thought: Oh gawd, I wish I still had the stamina and speed like I did when I was younger. I. Cannot. Breathe.

Seriously. Starting to be active when you're an inactive person like me is some serious, serious sucky stuff.

So here were my encouragement tactics:
Motivating yourself. With ridiculous things. For example (don't make fun of me), envisioning wicked crazy amazing fit bodies in your head. It'll keep you going, I promise.
Change of perspective. Instead of looking at it as a chore, I look at it as alone time to think and vent. Lets call this... theracise. Yes.
Intense pump-you-up music. This one is absolutely HUGE. I hate running without music. It is a known fact. Music just always makes everything better.
A work-out partner. Running with someone who is at your similar level is such a blessing and such a motivation. Crazy huge motivation. My lovely Yury, we are an awesome duo!

My great conclusion: its all mental!
My friend (and my running partner's boyfriend) decided to run last minute and did not train, run, NOR jog at all prior.
What happened? He beat us. Obviously. Its all mental. Or maybe its him being athletic. Jealous.
Anyway. Go team! I'm so proud of all of us.
