then i'll dig a tunnel, from my window to yours

Our family road trip:
  • Shopping
  • Eating
  • Sleeping
  • Watching movies
What we do best. Haha.
Had some delicious cheesecake (my third time in like 6 weeks).
Got to watch the Switzerland & Finland World Junior game. We sat 3rd row right beside the Swiss' bench. Pretty sweet seats. Could hear the coach yelling at the players.
Went to see the falls. And ate yummy food on Niagara-on-The-Lake. Cute little town.
There really is not a lot to do in Buffalo, (yikes) but I was glad to be with my family. All complete and stuff.
Next year, we're going somewhere on a plane though. Its been decided!
To conclude, I can't believe tomorrow is New Years Eve. I really can't. Weird.

12.27.2010

you've got garlic in your soul, mr. grinch

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas.
Mine was filled with lots of food.
Lots of food with family. Lots and lots and lots. Holiday family meals always, without a doubt, equal me taking power naps immediately after.
My sister got me a wicked scrabble initial ring with a matching mug. I love it. She knows my heart. And my keun appa (uncle) rocked a wicked plaid + Christmas sweater ensemble. It was thoroughly enjoyable. I wanted to steal the outfit.

For the first time in years, I did not work in a mall on Boxing Day. High five me now! This is huge news.
Instead, my siblings and I had brunch together. At Le Petit Dejeuner. That was nice.
We had our cousin's dinner also. Ate, again of course. Played games. And got to meet the newest addition to the fam, little baby Matteo. He is just precious. With the cutest eyes. Teehee.

Now I am off for a couple days with the below individuals: my siblings. Kinda looking forward to get away from Toronto for a bit!

12.25.2010

i'll hold your hands, they're just like ice

Merry, merry, the merrrrriest of Christmases to you all.
And Happy Birthday Jesus!

My sister has arrived. And this is where I jump and scream for joy! The Rhee household Christmas traditions can now proceed normally.
I suspect (more) over-consumption of food and an abundance of sleep (I hope)... and lots of family time.

I shall leave you with this.
You know in Elf, when Zooey Deschanel (I love her) and Will Ferrell sings this song? Uh huh. Merry Christmas, friends of mine.

12.23.2010

when the modern drift is all i have

Its a glow-in-the-dark POSTER. WHAT.
Genius.

This week has been filled with pushing and shoving and pouting and frowning at malls, attempting to get all my Christmas shopping done. 3 days in a row. Blah.
I. Hate. The. Mall. At. This. Time. BAD. Had to get it all done in doses. Its just too intense.
And. My sister's flight from Heathrow into Toronto on Tuesday got cancelled, and then not cancelled, and then cancelled twice, and then rescheduled to come... on Christmas night. And now for real (it better be for real) rescheduled to come tomorrow night. *fingers crossed*
Dear 6 inches of snow in London, you really messed things up.
P.S Christmas in 2 days. HUH?!?!

12.21.2010

but my heart is, returned to sister winter

Remember when I said that this weekend was gonna be crazy?
It was. I was half awake slash half sleeping (AKA full zombie) throughout the whole thing.

As you know, I watched Tron ("LIBATIONS FOR EVERYBODAYYY"). Exciting.
My smallgroup went to volunteer at the Yonge Street Mission Toy Drive. That was exciting.
And then I went to go get a Diana F+ camera. That was also exciting.
And then after a much needed nap (full out konk out), I went to my church's Mexico Missions team fundraising gala. That, was not only exciting, but so well done!
(Yury, you event coordinating tank. And Kevin, you cooking tank).
I'm so proud and happy for my friends who will be going. I know God is doing some amazing stuff there.
Oh and then Sunday ended with a night of obvious over consumption with our church's Christmas Party!

I title this weekend... Lights, Camera, ACTION.
I like pretty Christmas lights. Lights seem to be everywhere during the holidays.

12.19.2010

libations for everybody

I watched Tron this weekend. And I thought it was FANTASTIC. (It got really bad ratings, but I really don't care). Pffffft.
DISNEY DISNEY DISNEY (y)!
Honestly. I think I kinda love this kinda stuff. And the Daft Punk soundtrack?
dot dot dot
Holy snap shizzzzzle!
That is all I have to say about that.

12.17.2010

this could be an opportunity

Why is Bloc Party so.... good.
Mmmm.

Reminder: first year university at Western, walking from my residence to class. Everyday.
This and a few others were always on my then-not-ipod-but-mp3-player.
And everytime I listen to those songs (which I still very regularly do), it always brings me back.
I love that music takes me back to a certain time/place.
The nostalgic factor = (y)
Always gets me.

Also, Happy Friday. This week exhausted me. I woke up everyday wishing I had another hour. Or two. Or three.
And. The next couple weeks aren't gonna slow down. However, the superspeed of the next while is gonna be the-good-kinda-busy. You know what I mean, right?!

12.15.2010

thats probably enough honey for you, hunnybunny

This is kiiiiinda cute. Makes my heart feel happy. Hehe.
Jamie Oliver cooking pancakes with his daughters Daisy & Poppy (who are so adorable with their curly hair).
Mmm. I want pancakes.

Who wants to be the pourer inner?

12.13.2010

i want you to right-click my heart

Weekend summary:
- Queen Street West with my buddies Roy & Rudy aka RL2
- A huge massive closet cleanout. Yikes... slash YAY.
- Big crazy viewing of the UFC fight. (I don't really watch UFC, but it was actually pretty entertaining to watch. Mostly because my two friends Andrew and Jake are SUPER intense whilst watching).
- Gingerbread house competition : )

Was a quiet (minus Andrew and Jake yelling at the TV), yet very tiring couple of days.
And yet again, I am counting down the days until the weekend. Unfortunately, this upcoming one seems to be quite busy.
I say unfortunately because this time of year always seems to induce this homebody-wantingness in me.
Anyway. I am desperately looking forward to 1) my sister's arrival and 2) for the holiday vacation to start and 3) CHRISTmas!

P.S Big news. Do you know what the McDonalds Happy Meal toy is right now?
SANRIO WATCHES. How frigging badass is that?

12.11.2010

take a glorious bite out of the whole world

I always use my imagination and daydream what my ideal room would look like.
I'm really not sure if this is quite it, but I definitely wouldn't oppose it.
I feel like one day I would lust over this lavish Victorian style stuff, and then the next day,
I'd want a room infested (I use this word in the most positive way possible) with pseudo-vintage-Urban-Outfittersish home goods.
Its true. If I had the money and owned a big house, every room would be... drastically, drastically different. Yup.
Anyway.

1) Imagine my closet was organized and pretty like this. Mmmmm.
2) Imagine I had a room that spacious. Mmmmm.
3) Imagine I had a chandelier that badass in my possession. MMMM!

Okay. Yeah, I know. Snap out of it, Lindsay!!
And are you ready for the kicker? This is an IKEA ad. Breathe. I'm inclined to fully believe that place is magical.
Queen-Victoria-styles-BADASS! Fully support that. Of course.

12.09.2010

its such a grind

Um. Jonathan Toews, I'm a big fan. I think you're like, reeeeally good. And um, really cute. Teehee.

These frigging Questions Will Become Answers commercials. So intense.
(P.S Click here. DO IT. If you don't like hockey, then.... yeah, I don't know. Sorry, disregard this post, like right now).

Okay guys.
For real though. (Actually, I am for real - I'm a big fan of Jonathan Toews).
But I need to declare my intense feelings in really, really, reeeeally wanting to visit Chicago.
(Not only for their hockey team, but because I actually want to go. For real).
My friend Michelle is there for work right now and I am insanely jealous.
I've never been and everyone always just tells me "Lindsay, you would love Chicago".
Would I? WOULD I? I need to go and explore and find this out for myself. I want some deep dish pizza. Right. Now.

12.07.2010

and for the tiniest moment, its all not true

Holy FRIGGING mother of pearls. The Ballerina Project. These photos are SO PRETTY.
I think ballerinas are totally intense. And so graceful.
But in this intense (yes), almost painful, BEAUTIFUL way. Does that make sense?
And. I think I may go and see my first ever ballet this winter too : ) I'm wondering if I will love it or like it or neither.
Aaaand. Believe it or not, I took a ballet class once.
When I was in, like, grade 3 (this is debatable - maybe grade 4 or 5... um). For one year.
I swear when me and my brother were younger, we had hobby ADD.
Every activity/class/club-thing we decided to partake in would last for less than a year.
Swimming. Piano. Ballet. (The last one is directed to only me. My brother never took ballet. Haha).
Anyway. Ballerinas. Totally intense. These photos. Also totally intense.

12.05.2010

got me stuck by the way you glow

The nay, okay, and yay of my weekend:
  • Dinner with my chingoos at Flo's Diner. (NAY). Hanging out with them was a YAY (of courskies) but the food at Flo's was pretty .. eee horrible. =/
  • Saturday brunch with two of my loveliest dearest friends Michelle and Michelle at OKOK Diner. (OKAY). Again, I'd just like to reiterate: Michelle2 > OK2. 100% percent.
  • A yummy chai latte at Te Aro. (YAY). Yum. I like chai. I also seem to like finding random cafes.
Okay, yes. Thinking about it some more, The "OKAY" of OKOK deserves more than that. Its better than okay. Its preeetty good. I'm sorry OKOK, that was mean of me.

Anyway. MORE IMPORTANTLY: MY BROTHER PASSED THE UFE EXAM! AKA HES GONNA BE A CERTIFIED ACCOUNTANT!
He definitely (clearly) got all the smart... number/math/financial (AKA stuff-I-hate) genes of this twinship.
I am so very proud of him.

P.S Sunday nights suck because that means Monday is right around the corner. (N). BOOOO.
P.P.S Because I use them a lot, I must ensure you know what I mean: (N) = thumbs down. (Y) = thumbs up. For all you emoticon noobs. :)

12.03.2010

i'm always here, waiting for you

If You Run by The Boxer Rebellion.
My brother (yes, my brother!! Isn't this exciting? He is starting to really get into music!!!! EXCITING) introduced me to this band.
This song is sooooo good. The intro is so damn good. Really really good. Intensely good.

P.S HAPPY FRIDAY!
P.P.S HAPPY DECEMBER. Holy crapattack. When did this happen? I am mildly freaking out at where this year went. WHERE. DID. 2010. GO?
P.P.P.S 2.5 weeks until my sister comes home for a visit! And 3 weeks until THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR. wheee hee.

Summary of this whole post: I IS EXCITED.

{photo via here}

12.01.2010

if you can go downtown with a girl like me

mmmm. What is that glorious food, you ask? mmmmmm.
THE FOOD OF HOOF CAFE! mmmmm!
If you live in Toronto (or in the vicinity of), you NEED to go and try. Trust me.
And when you do, get the three dishes you see above: french toast (with candied apples),
buttermilk waffles (with chocolate and PORK BELLY - yes I said pork belly), and the suckling benny (eggs benedict).
Actually. I'm pretty much sold that everything this place creates is a winner.
We got the waffles by mistake, on the house from them... because we're so awesome.
Joking. Because they screwed up and we are... um lucky bastards.
AM I EVER GLAD THEY SCREWED UP! It was magical. But to be honest, each one was MAGICAL.
And after you place your name in the queue (because I assure you there will be one),
I think you should visit the cute and environmentally magical cafe, Ezra's Pound, right beside.
What makes this place magical (I realize I use this word a lot) is that... they brew your coffee individually - like literally take a single filter and brew your coffee in your cup. Exclusively! And they create your personal teabag (for all the anti-coffee tea lovers, which is um... me).
AND they only produce one bag of garbage per week because the rest of their packaging is biodegradable/recyclable + their food is made in-house organically/from scratch.
COOLS, YES? Well. I think its cool. The Ezra's Pound + Hoof Cafe combo. Whoooo. Breathe.
