after we skated in ottawa last weekend, we headed to montreal.
just for a couple hours.

it had to be here, obviously.
was my first time there. my fellow friends were hyping it up the whole way there.
and can't lie. guys, its pretty good.

also. montreal seems pretty promising.
i think next time, i'll stay for more than a couple hours.

our weekend was long, but short. a bit too short, it seemed.
oh, and also very packed.
and of course, very, very, very fun.

the whole thing started with a skate on the canal in ottawa.
we did over 12km.
picked up some beaver tails. and frozen taffy. and apple cider.
also, i got to see my lovely cousin emily.

was a perfect little pitstop. to get to our final destination, that is.

this week has seriously just flown right by. no complaints here though. at all.
but also, this week is a legit shortened work week for me.
tonight, me and a few friends are trekking to mont tremblant for some snowboardage.
actually, we're making a few pit stops before too.
to ottawa. and montreal. to see a few faces.

i need this so bad.
i've been feeling like i need a little getaway. an escape, if you will.
its good for the mind. you know?
some snow therapy.
i need this really bad.

and its my first time boarding outside of anywhere somewhat accessible to torontonians.
basically, outside of ontario. whooo.
i am stoked.

this weekend totally crept up on me.
and i'm getting more and more antsy as the hours pass by.
five o'clock. please. come. now.

ps. that was a dinner i concocted this week (inspired by this).
turkey feta meatballs. with sweet potato fries. and asparagus.
i like all things about that combo.

we took a little mini road trippie to celebrate clara's birthday.
crossed the border for our favourite crossing-the-border purpose.
(apart from it being clara's birthday, of course).
cheesecake factory, duh.

i don't get it. that place. their damn cheesecake. gets me everytime.

or is just us torontonians?
its close enough... yet still too far for easy convenience. what a tease.
and i wonder if i'd feel the same if i had it accessible all the time.

so this is what has been consuming a lot of my time.
on my lunch. in the car. at home. on the subway...
(i was so shy at first to bust it out during rush hour whilst public transporting).
its a wicked commuting activity.
cept when i get self-conscious (and then apologetic) of hitting my neighbour with my needles.
oops.

i can't make much more than a scarf.
but knitting is fun. and personally, mildly therapeutic.
you should start too.
i think i learned when i was like, in middle school.
always started, but never finished anything.
i'm determined. i've almost completed making that thing up there. *smile*

and now, it seems to be a growing hobby within my circle of (girl)friends.
i think we should have a knitting party.

we had some snow last week.
this winter has been a bit weird.
we have yet to receive the one or two super intense massive snowfalls
that we usually experience every season.

maybe i speak too soon. but it's not like i'm complaining or jumping for joy.
just a mere simple fact to be stated.

this makes my search for some warm, sturdy, (and most importantly) waterproof
snow boots even more of a priority.
i know, like every year, i will get owned if i do not act soon. (i hate wet feet).

anyway. i spent the weekend celebrating my lovely esther l's bday.
and knitting (i can't seem to stop. even on the subway).
and catching up on shows i probably shouldn't watch at all. (i watch the worst tv).
and brainstorming on how i can possibly stop eating crappy. (i went on a healthy food grocery spree).
oh, and sleeping. oh yes.

happy new year! crazy crazy crazy. that it is 2012.
curious and mildly excited to see what this new year will bring.
i would be lying if i said that the beginning
of a brand new year hasn't transpired some motivational feelings.

anyway. so. the holidays. one of the best things about christmas time...
is that our small lot of cousins (currently in Canada) congregate.
we did just that last week for a special, huge, delicious brunch at my cousin James' home.
without the parental units. just us young ones. its fun times.
lovely, fun times.

all of our attention was on our cutie patootie nephew, matteo.
i love this little guy. he is, surely, going to be a heartbreaker.

i took friday off to hang out with my lovely michelle lee visiting from the uk!
we basically took an afternoon stroll around what seems like all of downtown toronto.
talking. laughing. catching up.
that was nice.

we also checked out the brand spanking newly renovated maple leaf gardens.
which is now a gigantor grocery (and much more) store.
if i lived in that area, it'd be game over.
i (really) enjoy the act of grocery shopping. and stuff.

ps. i'm so behind on christmas gift purchasing.
im half procrastinating due to fear of the infested mall.
slash half using the excuse that i need to concoct the perfect gift plan for each person.

the bongo room.
was that other place i was gonna tell you about.
definitely a favourite meal of ours whilst in chicago. right by wicker park.
however. we waited for two hours to eat.
shopped around in the area in the meantime. (wicked shopping, might i add).

point is. it was definitely worth the wait.
they had things like... red velvet pancakes (refer to above photograph) and BLT eggs benedict.
yup. everything was pretty much wicked.

happy tuesday. (gosh its only tuesday).
its getting darker earlier. but weirdly, this week isn't as cold as last week. its been quite warm actually.
i'm still tripping out on the fact that we can probably pass by saying its mid-november.

somebody bust out the egg nog. (but, the snowboards also wooooo).

in chicago, one of our fave meals (there was a close runner up, i will mention later) was at graham elliot's grahamwich.
located right in the heart of the loop.
absolutely brilliant.
so delicious that you wonder how a simple sandwich can be so damn good.

the collective fave, i think i can safely say, was the grilled cheese.
but i mean, everything was pretty bang-on-stellar.

the cherry on top was... we just beat the lunch rush. literally.
after we ordered, there was a lineup out the door.
score.

oh, and we got seats. all seven of us. in the tiny seating section.
double score.

ps. happy friday. my week was pretty short. and this weekend we gain an hour with daylight savings.

so weird.
i can't believe i forgot to post about this. legitimately weirded out that i forgot to post about it.

i went to ottawa (again) for a work trip.
whilst there, i got to stay with my cousin and cousin-in-law emily + alex.
i love these two. they're so fun. and so in love! and their little one, matteo. (whom i also really love. really, really).
he's going to grow up to be a straight up heartbreaker. i know it.

we got indian take out, went vintage shopping, grabbed cupcakes, and did some market browsing.
personally, that pretty much equates to a good time.
throw some fam jam time in there and you've got yourself a pretty (darn) happy lindsay.

we went camping this past weekend.
it almost didn't happen. but last minute things. it just had to.
who are we kidding? summer camping is an absolute must.

zimele held an event this past weekend, called 'the orange bag'. (orange is our colour).
it was basically a big bazaar highlighting different independent businesses, mostly by women. to raise money for zimele of course.
there was everything from cupcakes, to pottery, to handmade soap, to jewelry, to photography, to yoga. yup, yoga. and more.
i picked me up a couple of things. like, cinnamony gingerbread smelling soap! smells nice.

it was so well organized. so big ups (yes, i just said big ups) to the ladies smallgroup that did that up.

my mom loves this movie. and these songs bring back so many memories.

one being that my middle school music teacher was crazy, completely obsessed with this whole production. one hundred percent.
almost scarring. but not really.

anyway. some of my friends and i went to watch it for one of the tiff in the park events.
it was so much fun. to be outside in super nice weather, in the dark. watching this legendary movie. so magical!

we had our first annual zimele golf tournament over the weekend. (at this really swanky, nice course).
it was pretty exhausting, but fun too. everything went really well. all ran smoothly. not bad for our first try.
i drove/was a passenger in a golf cart all day and took pictures. golf carts are so much fun.
weather was really nice and i think all the participants had a good time. go zimele go!

Here are my top two NYC meals from our trip.
Pork buns at Momofuku Noodle Bar + Grilled Corn at Cafe Habana.

So damn good, those two things alone make the trip worthwhile.
(Except, there were obviously so many other things that made it worthwhile).

So damn good, that they deserved a separate post on it's own.
Just so damn good.

PS. Who remembers Cruel Intentions? Just re-watched that badboy. When Ryan Phillipe was thee shizz.
That movie has my all-time favourite scene. If you can guess, then I shall give you 10 points + 10 stars in my books.

Our NYC trip was amazing.
Took me a good couple days to restore and replenish, but yes, our trip was so good.

The thunderstorm scare was a tease and didn't really occur. At all. Phew.
Our weekend was jam (ram) packed with lots of walking, lots of eating, and lots and lots of photos.
Oh, and a drink or two. Or three?

Good news. Off to NYC for the weekend.

Oh man, the air is getting so nasty, thick.
There was a moment today where my brother & I felt Korea... here in Toronto.
Smells of deep-fried food & ridiculous humidity levels.

Listening to this band always brings me back to a car ride in Korea two summers ago.
I was sitting in the back with my sister; we had just picked her up from the airport as she was meeting us there from the UK.
She had just seen them live at a small gig in London. And was gushing to me about their voices.
